Sam’s Profile

Sam Thrimavithana is a talent transformation consultant, thought leader and an executive coach. Sam has more than 20 years of experience working in the corporate sector playing various different roles in banking, finance, HR services, R & D and IT.

He is currently attached to a billion dollar global IT consultancy firm as the Head of Talent Capability Development. Prior to this, Sam was the consultant HR at Sri Lanka Institute of Nanotechnology (SLINTEC), the largest Nanotechnology Research Facility in the South East Asia. He was also the Head of Human Resource Development at Duo Software (Pvt) Ltd. Sam also worked at HSBC Global services and was pioneered in capacity building for BPO/KPO industry . Prior to joining HSBC, he was a project manager and business analyst at Abacus International, the largest Global Distribution system in Asia.

Sam is also the founder of the disruptive start-up, Sponge Global, focusing on next generation simulation and AI based talent development solutions.

Sam has conducted hundreds of public and private keynotes, seminars and coaching sessions in Sri Lanka, India, Bangladesh, Dubai, Maldives and Brunei.

Sam holds an MBA and specialised in Human Resource Development. He is a member of CIM – UK and SLIM –SL. He is an accredited assessor of HATS, one of the most advanced talent analytics platform in the world. Sam is also a certified trainer by City & guild UK. He is also Certified in Business Analytics by the Aberdeen Business School of Scotland.

Sam was recognized as ‘One of the most influential talent development leaders in the World’ by the Times Ascent World HRD Congress in 2017 for his contributions towards leadership development and corporate training. He is also a Board member of the Sri Lanka ICT Skill Council, the apex advisory body for the Government of Sri Lanka on IT skills related policy formulation.
